Preparation, Structures, and Electrochemical Properties of Silaplatinacyclohexadienes with Ferrocenyl Pendant Groups

The reactions of ethynylferrocene with Pt(CZ=CZ-SiPh2)(PMe3)(2) (Z = COOMe) and with Pt(SiHPh2)(2)(PMe3)(2) form the six-membered silaplatinacycles, nacycles, Pt(CZ=CZ-SiPh2-CH=CFC)(PMe3)(2) (1) and Pt(CFc=CH-SiPh2-CH=CFc)(PMe3)(2) (2, Fc = ferrocenyl), respectively. Electrochemical measurement and spectroscopic analyses of the oxidation product of 2 indicate a mixed valence of two ferrocene units.
