Exciton trapping at perturbed Mn2+ sites in Li+ doped crystals of RbMnCl3 and CsMnBr3

CsMnBr3 crystalsdoped with Li+ indicate the presence of perturbed Mn2+ ions which act as traps for bulk latticeexcitons. In both salts, the trapemission is approximately 1100 cm−1 lower in energy than the emissionfrom the unperturbed Mn2+ ions. At 12 K the luminescence is dominated by the emissionfrom the Mn2+ ions of the bulk crystal. As the crystals are warmed above 50 K the excitons begin to
