    Towards new boron carriers for boron neutron capture therapy: Metallacarboranes bearing cobalt, iron and chromium and their cholesterol conjugates
    摘要:
    A method for the synthesis of cholesterol-metallacarborane conjugates bearing cobalt, iron and chromium was developed. Effective incorporation of the cholesterol conjugate bearing cobalt into liposome membrane was revealed. Using the metallacarborane-encrusted liposomes as boron delivery system in vivo biodistribution experiments in tumor-bearing mice, high accumulation and selective delivery of boron into tumor tissues was observed. The results demonstrate that the cholesterol-metallacarborane conjugates can be considered as a potential candidate for boron delivery vehicle in BNCT. (C) 2013 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

    Effects on the NMR spectra of a paramagnetic metal ion are clearly observed by comparing identical sandwich molecular structures of diamagnetic [3,3′-Co(1,2-C2B9H11)2] with paramagnetic [3,3′-Fe(1,2-C2B9H11)2].

    8-tetrahydropyronium derivatives of iron bis(dicarbollide)(-I) were synthesized. Their reactions of ring cleavage by MeOH, N3−, amines and 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane were investigated. 8-Tetrahydrofuronium iron bis(dicarbollide)(-I) was found to be more active in these reactions in comparison with 8-tetrahydropyronium and 8-dioxonium species, respectively.
