    The compound [Pd-4(mu(3)-CH)(mu-Cl)(3)(PBu(3)(t))(4)] has been synthesised from [Pd-2(dba)(3)] (dba = dibenzylideneacetone), PBu(3)(t) and CHCl3 and characterised spectroscopically and by single-crystal X-ray analysis; it undergoes substitution reactions with Br- and tertiary phosphines and is a catalyst for the polymerisation of ethyne.

    report the synthesis and structural characterisation (when L=PBz3 and PPh2Np) of the compounds [Pd(dba)L2] (where L, PPh2Np 1, PPh2An 2, PPhNp23 and PBz34; Np, 1-naphthyl; An, anthracenyl; Bz, benzyl; and dba, dibenzylideneacetone) from [Pd2(dba)3] and the corresponding phosphine.     Organopalladium ArPdL2I (L = tertiary phosphine) complexes (1) can be synthesized in one step from the precursors Pd2(dba)3·C6H6 (2) (dba = t,t-dibenzylideneacetone) and (η3-allyl)PdCp (3) (Cp = η5-cyclopentadienide). Two advantages over previous synthetic methods are that this route requires only stoichiometric amounts of phosphine and that the desired complexes are easily isolated from reaction byproducts

    The syntheses, characterisation and crystal structure (when X = Br) of [Pd 4 (µ 3 -CF)(µ-X) 3 (PBu t 3 ) 4 ] (X = Cl, Br) are reported; the µ 3 -CF moiety is hydrogenated to CFH 3 under mild conditions and serves as a model for the heterogeneous hydrogenation of CFCs to HCFCs.
