羧酸,又称“有机酸”,是指以烃基与羧基结合而成的有机化合物,通式为RCOOH,广泛存在于自然界中,常以酯的形式存在。
按烃基结构分类取代羧酸是指烃基中含有其他取代基团的化合物。饱和的一元羧酸中碳原子数在1至9个时为液体,超过10个碳原子则为固体;芳香族羧酸和饱和二元羧酸均为固体。
羧酸的性质及应用羧酸具有弱酸性,在工业上广泛用于生产酯、酰氯、酰胺以及酸酐。还原羧酸可生成相应的醇。许多羧酸在染料、橡胶、药物、香料、日化和轻工等工业中有着广泛应用。
